The 3rd Saturday… watch out for a heard of elephants!

A rolling programme of short outdoor shows.

All shows at Canal Basin are free and socially distanced busking events.

Donations to support Skipton Puppet Festival are welcome.

MAGIC LANTERN  (relaxed performance)

Summer is coming and it’s time to leave the nest. But poor Silas

the Cygnet! - He’s not so sure.

Will he make it through the dark woods?

Perhaps with the help of some new friends…


An interactive puppet show by Thingumajig Theatre and People Express,

includes a magical walk-through adventure and craft making session,

designed to help young people reemerge in challenging times.

Sunday 8th August  

Much loved Garlic Theatre return to Skipton with their brilliant family show.

11.00am  AND  2.00pm  at  Skipton Town Hall

OLDILOCKS AND THE 3 BEARS

A wonderfully funny and warmhearted celebration of the classic story

starring a naughty old lady who looks very familiar… and 3 funny

bears who love their breakfast.


Garlic Theatre hold their young audience spellbound with lovingly

crafted puppets, music and some steaming bowls of porridge.


A family show for ages 3 to 7 years.

THE CREATURE THAT NOBODY SAW


Create your own mini puppet show at home to share with your friends.

Online - 3-zoom sessions for young families (suitability 5-8 and families).


By Garlic Theatre - originally commissioned by The Library Presents


Join Garlic Theatre’s Zoom sessions to learn to make your own little

puppet show about an imaginary creature living in your house.


Sessions take place 10th / 17th / 25th August at 11am.

Duration ~ 30 minutes. Cost per family £15 (maximum 15 families)

ANIMAL TABLETOP PUPPET WORKSHOP

Online course with puppet maker Judith Hope.

Learn how to design and construct a four legged animal tabletop

puppet, using easily sourced materials and simple tools.

(1 hour per day)


This is an online course via Zoom.

Course (zoom) dates: 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th August.

NOONE’S LAND  (Merlin Puppet Theatre / GREECE)

Performed by  Greek company ‘Merlin Puppet Theatre’.

The dream, creativity, power of the imagination against reality

Through the eyes of a scarecrow.


A lonely creature, eternally spiked at the same point with no chance

of escape from a horizon unchosen. And then he opens his eyes and

discovers the world. Noone’s Land is the story of that little big piece of

everyone, the imagination, which cannot be taken away and never

conquered.

Suitability: Adults and older children



Sunday 12th September

Puppets and Circus tricks! Fun for all the family.

11.00am  AND  2.00pm  at  Skipton Town Hall

DASILVA CIRCUS

Performed with dazzling dexterity this traditional family show with

all the thrills and spills of a real-life circus! Noisy Oyster offer a new

version of the classic DaSilva circus marionette show. Using the

original puppets, which date from the 1960s and 1970s, they have

created a show which celebrates the past but engages with present-day

audiences.


Noisy Oyster are an award winning company and no strangers to

Skipton. We’re glad to have them back!


A family show for ages 3 to 7 years.

CARVING MASTERCLASS with John Roberts


A 5 day masterclass for adults; artists and creatives with an interest in

learning a puppet making technique such as carving. (max. 6 participants)
